As in previous years, we also provide an intermediate score of the carbon footprint or the CO2 footprint this year. The footprint is divided into 3 sub-sections, entitled the scope 1 up to 3.

Scope 1 includes all direct emissions, such as the consumption of natural gas, petrol, diesel, etc.

Scope 2 includes all indirect emissions, such as electricity consumption and travelling by train or aeroplane.

Scope 3 includes all indirect emissions that are not included in scope 2, such as the transport of employees who come to work with their own car, all waste fractions and paper consumption.

We close the first half of the year at the end of June and compile an intermediate score. This way, we can detect more quickly whether we are making sufficient efforts to meet our objective. Our total emissions for scope 1 and 2 (see table below), calculated up to and including June 2019, amounts to 3.723 TCO2e. If this trend continues, we will have an absolute emission that will be higher than in 2018. But, of course, the emissions cannot only be viewed as an absolute. In the evaluation of a full year, we also compare the emissions with the turnover and with the number of employees.

If we look at our biannual emissions in detail, we see some differences compared to 2018. The emissions in scope 1 (see table below) show an increase. The consumption of the ships and Kallo is higher because of the increase in activities in 2019.

If we look in detail at scope 2 (see table below), we notice a small increase in emissions in Kallo.

In conclusion, we also provide an overview of the CO2 reduction measures and the impact thereof as a result.
